Monthly | Tai Chi with Enid (18+)
January 17, 2025 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Spring Term 2024-25
These 2hr sessions will be following the L’Art du Chi, Stevanovitch method of Tai Chi Chaun, including relaxation and centering work on mats, seated breathing and preparation exercises, gentle standing warm-up movements, Qigong and building the Yang Short Form (24 Postures). These slow fluid movements, originating from oriental martial arts, relax the upper body and mind while strengthening and challenging the legs and core muscles. There is also another unexpected benefit to this practice and which develops over time, the quiet restfulness of meditation in movement. Participants often experience improved balance, reduced blood pressure, feeling calmer, more grounded and re-energised.
It’s important to wear comfortable clothing and layers are recommended so you can adjust to suit the temperature and how you feel in the space.
Other things to bring for these sessions to support the lying down or seated positions we work in:
- Meditation bench/cushion/zafou cushion
- Thick camping mat
- Small blanket or wrap
No previous experience is needed. Comfort breaks will be included.
Essential to pre-register if new to the group.
3 sessions – 17th January, 14th February, 14th March
Class rate: £36/term (£12/session)
